Job Description
A well-established food manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Production Supervisor to lead daily laboratory and production operations. This position is responsible for supervising production personnel, driving safe and efficient operations, ensuring product quality, and maintaining compliance with regulatory and company standards. The successful candidate will provide strong leadership while promoting employee development, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Production Leadership
- Supervise and coordinate daily laboratory and production operations to meet production schedules and customer requirements.
- Ensure production targets, quality standards, and operational objectives are consistently achieved.
- Optimize labor utilization, raw material usage, and equipment efficiency.
- Partner with maintenance to minimize downtime and maximize equipment reliability.
- Monitor daily workflows and address operational issues to maintain productivity.
Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture throughout the operation.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety policies.
- Conduct safety training, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Verify compliance with environmental regulations related to waste management, air quality, water quality, and hazardous materials.
- Drive continuous improvement in workplace safety.
Quality & Regulatory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with food safety, quality, and regulatory requirements, including:
- HACCP
- GMPs
- Sanitation programs
- Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- ISO standards
- Monitor quality control processes, inspections, and audits.
- Lead corrective actions for quality or compliance issues.
- Support initiatives that reduce waste, contamination risks, and product defects.
- Promote continuous improvement and lean manufacturing practices.
Leadership & Employee Development
- Lead, coach, and develop laboratory and production associates.
- Manage hiring, training, performance management, and employee development.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and accountable work environment.
- Promote employee engagement, retention, and professional growth.
Reporting & Communication
- Maintain accurate production, quality, attendance, and performance records.
- Communicate production performance, operational challenges, and improvement opportunities to leadership.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and Supply Chain to achieve business objectives.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
- Experience hiring, training, coaching, and developing production employees.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of OSHA, ISO, quality systems, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and time management abilities.
- Experience with ERP systems such as SAP and Microsoft Office.
- Working knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
Preferred:
- Experience supervising both refinery laboratory and production operations.
- Strong background in quality control systems and regulatory compliance.
- Experience implementing continuous improvement initiatives in a manufacturing environment.
